Monday Night Fun

Okay so I haven't been blogging a whole lot about anything other than the baby, but not this time.

First of all my day at work was horrible. I felt sick to my stomach all day because I kept getting too hot due to the thermostat being set too high because it was cold outside. Right now heat and me don't go together at all, unless you want the food in my stomach to be out of my stomach. Plus I was extremely tired all day and my head was in a foggy cloud and I couldn't think at all. All that was to say my day at a work sucked. I forgot to mention that Steven wasn't at work yesterday because he got tickets to opening day at the ball park, so he was at the Ranger's game with his Dad. He had fun and the Ranger's won so it was a good day for them.

All of that changed when I left work. I still didn't feel great, but I wasn't having to try to use my brain either. I decided that I was going to make potato soup for dinner, but I had to stop at the store to pick up potatoes. Let me tell you I really like the Kroger by our apartment because you can get in and out in less than 5 minutes if you need to. When I picked Alexis up I told her what we were going to make and she asked if she could help. Of course I said yes, who says not to help. I told her she could fry the bacon. So we got home and changed and started dinner. She got to cook bacon for the first time and experience that awful feeling when the grease pops and hits your arm. Luckily none of the pops were so bad that she actually got burned. She also helped me chop up the onions, at least until they burned her eyes. Then she got to cook the onions in the bacon grease to soften them. We just had fun starting dinner and goofing around. She kept flinging potato peels at my feet and legs and then would nearly fall over laughing. While dinner was being prepared Steven and his Dad showed up. Well after they showed up Alexis lost interest in helping make dinner because she had some one to bother, but she wouldn't get out of the kitchen and I kept bumping into her. I actually used a phrase that Steven's Dad says all the time "Get out of my kitchen!" He laughed and pointed out that I say it too and it's not just him.

Dad left and I finished dinner. While I was making dinner I went ahead and started a dessert too. Have you ever heard of Berry Poke Cake? Well you should try it sometime because it is sooo good. I need to try it a few more times to get it just perfect, but I'm sure I'll get down.

Steven asked if I needed any help so I had him set the table and get bowls out for the soup. He saw me grating fresh cheese and he about took the block away and took a bite out of it. We are cheese freaks. Honestly I think we could eat cheese with every meal and life would be grand. We haven't had fresh grated cheese in forever since we always by the bags that are already shredded. Dinner was good, warm, delicious and you couldn't even see or taste the onions (which meant Alexis ate every bite of it).

Towards the end of dinner we talked about playing a game or two and we decided to play Sequence followed by Life. Which let me tell you we are very competitive people so these were well fought games. Alexis won the first round of Sequence and Steven won the second. I thought I was in the running to win Life, but I played it too safe and some how they both beat me with Alexis being the winner. She actually just got lucky on a "spin to win" turn. They have these "spin to win" spaces on the board where the person who lands on it gets to pick two numbers between 1-10 and you get to put how ever much money you want to on each number to win. Then the other players can pick one number and throw in their money. The one who landed on the space then spins and if it stops on your number you get 10 times what you put in. Well Alexis put in $100,000 on the number 4 and got it so she got a return of 1 million dollars along with her $100,000 back. Well then Steven did the same thing later in the game too! I'm just not very good at the whole chance spin thing. Steven even beat me after having lost his job twice. We laughed and goofed around and had a great night.

These are the moments that make life worth living. I love my family and I am so grateful that God has blessed my life with them.

  2. I love you too! Hey did you get my invite for dinner sometime soon? I can even find something that will work with whatever your points are for the day and what your tastes buds are craving. Let me know. Maybe you can make for a girls night some time too!

We really had a lot of fun last night. It's nights like those that make Steven realize that Alexis really does love us and loves being around us.
