First Dr. Appt

.....so yeah today was the big day! Steven and I went in for my first appointment with my new OB, which by the way she rocks!! Thanks, Nicole for suggesting her. Of course we went through the normal medical history and how I'm feeling and all that jazz, but that's not what we were waiting for.

I got to have a sonogram today. During the sonogram we got to see our little Nudger. We also got to hear his or her heartbeat. Plus we got to see the heart beating (crazy). Well while we were watching the baby began wiggling around which was so amazing. Oh and you can see the baby's arm and leg buds. We didn't see more than one, so I'm guessing we are just having one baby this go round.

I can't wait to show Alexis the sonogram pics tonight. She is going to be so excited!

Well here is a pic to enjoy.

Week 8 of Pregnancy

Here are the things going on with our baby right now:

Everything that is present in an adult human is now present in the small embryo. The ears are continuing to form externally and internally. The bones are beginning to form, and the muscles can contract. Fingers and toes are webbed but are growing longer.
The facial features continue to mature. The tip of the nose is present and the eyelids are now more developed. The embryonic tail is also disappearing, and your baby's body is beginning to straighten out.
While your baby's gender has already been determined, the external genitals are still forming and cannot be clearly seen. The embryo is at the end of the embryonic period and begins the fetal period.*

Our baby is about the size of bean, or as was referenced today a Teddy Graham.

Week 7 of Pregnancy

I'm beginning week 7 and here are the things that are happening to our baby.

At this point every essential organ has begun to form in the embryo's tiny body. The hair and nipple follicles are forming, and the eyelids and tongue have begun formation. The elbows and toes are more visible as the trunk begins to straighten out.*

Our baby is actually about an inch long and weighs about as much as one aspirin.

How cool is that....our baby has elbows and toes???

This weekend was I think the worst of the morning sickness, which actually doesn't only happen in the morning. I've been sick all times of the day. And you want to talk about super emotional, that's me right now.

Shopaholics

I found out this weekend that Steven and I can be major shopaholics (especially when it comes to our little nudger).

We went to Babies R Us on Sunday afternoon just with the intention of looking around and getting ideas. The trip was going like it normally would for me with lots of "Aaawwws" and "Oohhhs", but then we decided to check cribs and bedding. There are tons of options at Babies R Us for cribs and bed sets. We wandered over to the shelves holding the bedding and then hit the mother load. We found a cute bed set that was brown and white and on sale for 75% off. Then we looked around and realized that all of Amy Coe's bedroom stuff was on sale for 75% off, but they only had 3 items in the colors we liked. We ended up getting the bed set, mobile, and three paintings for right around $70.00. On our receipt it said we saved $195.00.

We were shell shocked because you don't ever find those kinds of baby items that cheap unless your looking at a garage sale or Craig's List.

So Steven got everything out when we got home, but the mobile wasn't working. We decided to go to the Babies R Us in Irving to return it and get one that worked. Of course we had to look around there, but there were no signs that said Amy Coe's stuff was on sale. Well there just happened to be a scanner right next to all of her bedding and sure enough it was all on sale in Irving too. So we started grabbing stuff (because this store had more of a selection in the color we picked) and scanning. We ended up with a hamper, receiving blankets, a chenille blanket, a huge painting, a rug, a stuffed dog, changing pad cover, an extra crib sheet, and something else and again we paid $70.00 for all of it. This receipt said we saved $202.00.

So like I said we hit the mother load at Babies R Us!!!

Week 6 of Pregnancy

So this is my first blog and it's most likely going to suck, but here it goes.

I'm between 5 and 6 weeks pregnant and there are amazing things going on in my body. Our little nudger is growing so rapidly. This week the baby is developing it's jaw, lungs, nose and palate. Also the arm and leg buds that developed at week 3 or 4 have now become webbed. In other words our baby has webbed hands and feet, well webbed structures that will become fingers and toes. The baby's brain is continuing to form it's complex parts. And all of that is happening to a baby that is about 3/4 of an inch long.

I've been experiencing my first bouts of morning sickness this week. I haven't actually thrown up in the morning, but I've been really nauseated enough to avoiding eating until late morning. I also have to give up spicy salsa and stuff like that. Apparently spicy foods can really upset your stomach (as I found out on Saturday). Did you know that you are not supposed to take naps after eating when your pregnant? I didn't either!
